Dear Retreatants. Please refer to this page often for updated information on the retreat.
We will leave at 6am sharp on Saturday morning, April 29th. Please be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes early to board the bus so our drivers can begin moving at 6am. We cannot wait for stragglers, so please be on time!!
You will find our buses lined up on 34th street, between 6th and 7th Avenues.
Our starting location is convenient to the following train lines: 1, 2, 3, 7, A, B, C, D, E, F, M, N, Q, R, S and W
It is important that you pack a bag with enough food to get you through the day. Remember, we leave at 6a and won’t return until around 8:30-9:30 pm. There will be little to no option to purchase food at the march. We will try to provide light snacks, but please consider your nutrition needs. The PCM will have watering stations along the march route, so be sure to bring a refillable water. And did we mention–bring a water bottle! Commodified water is an environmental disaster. Just say no!
Peoples Climate March will have golf carts to take those with accessibility challenges to our parking at RFK stadium to the metro station nearby. There will also be viewing points at two points at the march’s route, where one can view the march and either join up with us or take a van to the march’s endpoint. Pedicabs will also be available as an option for those with limited walking ability. Please Note:
Accessible seating will be provided by the main stage at the Washington Monument for those who cannot stand for long periods of time or who use mobility assistance devices.
There will be accessible vans to provide transportation for people who are unable to walk the march route. These vans will be picking up at Madison and 4th St. They are required to be in the back of the march for safety reasons. Participants will be required to provide their own transportation after the march.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP if you’d like one or more of these accommodations!
We will take the DC Metro from RFK Stadium (Stadium-Armory stop) to the march line up (Federal Center SW stop). We currently have a few passes that you can buy that will be available to you the day of the march. Please make sure to have cash denominations of $10. You may also wish to purchase them for yourself or your group directly from the WMATA site. Cards are $10 and have $8 pre-charged, enough for the day. Cards may be difficult to purchase on the day of the march, so please strongly consider buying in advance!

March Contingent and Line-up:
We will march with the Faith contingent ‘Keepers of Faith.’ We will line up behind the ‘Defenders of Truth’ contingent at 3rd Street NW between Madison Drive NW and and Jefferson NW. There are banners for various faith groups, and we will line up together under the ‘Buddhist’ banner. Diagram of the line-up below:
The march will kick-off at 12.30pm and we will march up Pennsylvania Avenue to surround the White House. Once the White House is surrounded, we will let out a Lion’s Roar of protest against the Trump administration’s decimation of environmental protections and climate science.
And here’s what we’ll be doing at the White House:
The action as we surround the White House will take the form of a silent sit-in, followed by breaking into a wave of collective sound. Here’s the timing:
2:00 We’ll stop the march
2:05 We’ll sit on the ground and link arms
2:10 – 2:15 Silent sit-in
2:15 We’ll start the “heart beat” clap
2:17 We’ll transition to massive noise (shouts, music, etc.)
2:18 We’ll get back on our feet
